We're about 30 minutes away from the closing ceremony of the 2010 Olympics and I'm about to go into a depression. I love the Olympics. So much so that I took the last 2 weeks off work in order to catch as much of the action as possible. Needless to say... it was awesome seeing all of the athletes reach personal bests, achieve awesome goals, and provide us all with 2 weeks of the highest form of athleticism!
I wish I could say that watching the Olympics have motivated me to my utmost for my competition. In a way they have - it was incredible working out while watching Alpine skiing and speed skating. But not even the Olympics had the force to stop me from pizza. Ahh pizza, how I love your cheesy goodness.
I logged into my blog to see that I'm less than 100 days till the competition. And I feel so far away from being ready! I'm starting to see results, which is encouraging. I mean, I see some semblance of a bicep now and an inkling of a quad! But then, as I look over my treadmill TV I see some ripped woman (older than me) walk by with bulging muscles. Sigh... back to cardio I go.
My trainer has told me that I'll start leaning out mid-March, which will likely mean morning cardio sessions in addition to those I do post-strength training. It will also mean smaller portions, fewer calories, and another cut of carbs. Oh joy. And I thought my diet was tough now!
It'll all be worth it though, right? Right?!?
